Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS)

The Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) has caused severe damage to China and other countries' health and economic infrastructures. The author has worked in a county level department of SARS prevention. SARS is an infectious disease. China, and world wide, disinfection has been employed as one of the most appropriate environmental strategy to prevent SARS. So I propose that SARS patients and suspected SARS patients be transferred to specialized centers. Infectious diseases have mainly three factors responsible for infectivity: the cause of an infectious disease, the susceptible person, and the infectious pathways. The infectious pathways and the susceptible persons are the most important points to prevent infections. By transferring SAR patients, there is a potential to quarantine and minimize environmental contamination. This may help to prevent SAR.
